This dataset includes classroom-level information collected from the classroom teachers of participating Grade 1 students through the LK!2 Fall and Spring Educator Surveys. The surveys were administered in schools at the beginning and end of the school year across project sites. The purpose of these surveys was to document educator and classroom context relevant to the LK!2 study, including educator role and background, teaching experience, classroom characteristics, language and literacy curricula used for whole-class and small-group/individual instruction, instructional time devoted to English/Language Arts, and school instructional support structures such as RTI/MTSS. The Fall Educator Survey also includes teacher-reported items used to support eligibility and participation determinations for students (e.g., English understanding/speaking and indicators that severe behavior difficulties or disabilities would prevent small group participation). Records are linked via Teacher ID.
The study included three recruitment cohorts: Cohort 1 (2021–2022), Cohort 2 (2022–2023), and Cohort 3 (2023–2024). In the study ID protocol, the value “3” was originally reserved to indicate a school attended after a participant moved following study entry. This category was never utilized, but the numbering structure was retained to preserve consistency in participant IDs, student IDs, school IDs and data management procedures. As a result, Cohort 3 is coded as “4” in the dataset.
