The aim of the research was to understand the role of self-esteem in influencing the relationship between parenting styles and social adjustment in young adults. For this, the data comprised 306 young adults (114 males and 192 females) located across India who have Indian citizenship, completed their schooling in India, and had been raised by both their parents. The data was collected using purposive sampling with the help of online and physical forms and using the measures- Perceived Parenting Style Scale, Social Adjustment Scale Self-Report: Short version, and Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale. The research hypothesized that parenting styles will have a significant effect on social adjustment during young adulthood (H1), there will be gender differences in the perceived parenting styles among young adults (H2), and self-esteem will have a significant mediating effect on the relationship between perceived parenting style and social adjustment.
