In this study, we examined if data analytics gleaned from an online literacy application could inform teachers of student reading progress above and beyond their progress monitoring scores. Participants were all K-1 students in one elementary school in a southeastern state. We used a panel design with data from two years; half of the sample contributed in K and 1st grade. Students participated in progress monitoring at three time points each year, and at the same timepoints data from the literacy app were downloaded for each student, including time logged-in, number of interactions, accuracy per chapter, etc. Information about the home literacy environment was also collected.
